Who we are
Platform is developed by Jamie Snowdon, trading as Platform Rail Ltd, based in the United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@getplatform.app.
What data we collect
Platform collects very little data. Here's exactly what we use and why:
- Journey data — When you track a journey, we query the National Rail Darwin API with the station codes you've selected. This request is made directly from your device. We do not store your journey searches on our servers.
- Shared journey data — If you choose to share a live journey link, we temporarily store the journey status in our database so others can view it. This data is deleted automatically when you stop sharing or the journey ends.
- Local storage — Your saved journeys, journey history, and preferences are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share a journey.
- Notification tokens — If you enable notifications, iOS generates a device token used solely to deliver journey alerts. Not shared with third parties.
- Crash and diagnostic data — If you opt in through iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymised crash reports. No personally identifiable information is included.
What we don't collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information — Platform requires no sign-up
- Your location — we never request location permissions
- Advertising identifiers — we don't run ads and don't use ad tracking
- Your payment details — all purchases are handled entirely by Apple
- Any data about how you use the app beyond what's described above
Third-party services
- National Rail Darwin API — provides live train data. Requests include station codes but no personal information. Subject to National Rail's terms.
- Supabase — temporarily stores shared journey data when you use the live sharing feature. Data is stored in the EU. Subject to Supabase's privacy policy.
- Apple — handles all in-app purchases, push notification delivery, and crash reporting. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Data retention
- Shared journey data is deleted from our servers immediately when you stop sharing or end your journey
- Local data (saved journeys, history) remains on your device until you clear it in Settings or delete the app
- We do not retain any server-side logs of your journeys or searches
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we hold almost no personal data, there is very little to request — but if you have any concerns, contact us at hello@getplatform.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Platform is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
